How I did it
I had no healthcare experience. My career has been in sales and social services, and everything I know about healthcare I learned through WGU. Sales turned out to be my advantage. My degree was a business degree, and a lot of what WGU tested me on, I had already learned on the job: negotiating, managing accounts, reading people, hitting numbers.
In April 2025 I started on Sophia Learning to knock out transfer credits. Two weeks in, my car broke down. It took two weeks to get it fixed, and it killed my motivation. I stopped. That was the real test, not any exam.
I got past that mental block by keeping one thought in front of me: once this degree is done, it's done. Nobody can take it back, and I never have to do it again. So I went back to work.
Four months of hard work, then finished. At least until my master's.
